The minute I read through this fun and imaginative how to book, 15 years ago, I was hooked. It served as the launchpad of many successful Halloween attractions around the country and a career working on special effects for Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Warner Bros Movie World and Walt Disney Imagineering.
This little tome serves as a deep well for nurturing ideas, even for the most advanced. It does get a little bogged down in its simplistic details on marketing material and charity functions, and is somewhat simple in execution of techniques and designs, but the the authors are not pretending that the book is something that it is not, either. They obviously had a great time creating this book for those who want to have fun creating a haunted house.
Do not pay attention to those who think (like some other reviewers here) that a Halloween event isn't professional if you don't have some over-amped maniac with a chainsaw running around while wearing a rubber mask. In fact, those haunted houses are the truly amatuerish shows, for they require minimal creativity or technique to captivate their audience. If you want to haunt, start with this little gem to electrify your imagination.
