(More customer reviews)This is a British book. Much of what it contains is late-Victorian "Reform" style, what we here in the States call "Eastlake," "Arts and Crafts," or "Craftsman" style. The reformer Morris did start out as a Gothicist, but his designs and ideals quickly blossomed into entirely new styles such as Art Nouveau. The British point of view here sees no real distinction between Gothic Revival style and Reform style. Whether this is helpful or confusing is up to the taste of the reader.
